“I’ve always said how much I enjoy playing for Sunderland. I love being on the pitch here, I love the atmosphere, and I feel really settled,” said Hume. “I’m happy where I am. If something ever does change, it will come from the club’s side, not mine. But right now, my heart is here.”

We didn’t dominate, but we stayed solid and united. That’s the kind of football I enjoy—fighting as a team and earning our victories,” he said. “Scoring those late goals brought out every emotion—relief, joy, pride—it was unforgettable.”
Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League has made this summer a critical period in terms of squad retention and reinforcement. The club will be looking to avoid losing vital players like Hume, whose contract runs through to 2027. A Northern Ireland international with 20 caps, Hume was signed from Linfield in 2020 and has since grown into one of Sunderland’s most dependable and valued assets.
