Brighton & Hove Albion are on the verge of sealing a £34 million transfer for highly-rated Olympiacos forward Charalampos Kostoulas, with the South Coast club stepping up efforts to finalise the deal amid strong interest in current forward Joao Pedro from Premier League rivals.
According to *The Athletic*, Brighton had an initial £30 million offer—bundled with Senegalese winger Abdallah Sima—turned down by Olympiacos last month. However, the Seagulls remain undeterred and have now tabled a straight £34 million bid in a renewed attempt to land the 18-year-old Greek talent.
Olympiacos are believed to be holding out for a 20% sell-on clause as part of the agreement, but negotiations are said to be progressing well. Sources suggest that an agreement could be reached soon, paving the way for Kostoulas to join fellow Greek youngster Stefanos Tzimas at the Amex Stadium. Tzimas, just 19, arrived from German side Nürnberg in January for a reported fee of £22 million.
The impending arrival of Kostoulas has sparked fresh speculation over the future of Brazilian forward Joao Pedro. The 22-year-old, who enjoyed an impressive campaign with Brighton, has reportedly attracted serious interest from Newcastle United and Liverpool, with transfer fees potentially exceeding £60 million.
Renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano added weight to the rumours by reporting that Pedro is open to a summer move.
