Wolverhampton Wanderers are stepping up their search for attacking reinforcements this summer and have set their sights on a once-hyped French talent who is regaining form in the Swiss Super League. According to reports from *Foot Mercato*, Wolves are among several clubs tracking St. Gallen striker Willem Geubbels, who enjoyed an impressive resurgence during the 2024/25 campaign.
The need for a new frontman at Molineux has become pressing following Matheus Cunha’s high-profile move to Manchester United. With Sasa Kalajdzic expected to leave on loan to aid his recovery from a long-term injury and Fabio Silva tipped for a permanent exit, manager Vitor Pereira is in the market for a potent forward capable of filling the creative and goal-scoring void.
Geubbels, now 23, was once one of the most sought-after young talents in Europe. He made history with Lyon by becoming the first player born in the 21st century to feature in both Ligue 1 and the Europa League. His potential saw AS Monaco invest around £17 million to secure his signature in 2018—at just 16 years of age.
After a series of injury setbacks and limited opportunities at Monaco, Geubbels revived his career at St. Gallen, where he netted 14 league goals this past season—matching Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen’s tally—and added three more in cup competitions. His form hasn’t gone unnoticed, with interest from Bundesliga sides Union Berlin and FC Cologne, several Premier League clubs including Southampton, Sheffield United, and Leeds United, as well as Dutch side FC Twente.
St. Gallen are reportedly bracing for his departure, with a fee in the region of £8.5 million likely to secure a deal. The Swiss side reportedly view it as “almost impossible” to retain him given the rising interest across Europe.

Although he’s primarily a central striker, he has also been deployed on the left, offering tactical flexibility—traits that could make him an ideal replacement for Cunha, who often operated across the frontline for Wolves.
Pereira’s summer rebuild is expected to include the addition of two creative attacking midfielders, and Geubbels could also slot into a left-sided No. 10 role, providing Wolves with both pace and unpredictability in the final third.
