Brighton Reportedly Willing to Let O’Riley Go for €25m – Roma Emerge as Suitors

Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly open to parting ways with midfielder Matt O’Riley, with Italian club AS Roma showing renewed interest in the Denmark international. According to La Repubblica, relayed by LaRoma24, the Seagulls would “gladly accept” an offer in the region of €25 million for the 23-year-old.

Roma’s new manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, had previously attempted to secure O’Riley’s signature during his tenure at Atalanta, only to see the player join Brighton from Celtic last summer for a reported £25 million. That move reportedly caused some frustration within Atalanta’s camp at the time.

Now in search of a replacement for Leandro Paredes, Roma have rekindled their pursuit of O’Riley, who has emerged as one of the club’s top midfield targets. Italian reports suggest a deal could be easily concluded if Roma meet Brighton’s asking price.

However, questions remain over the feasibility of the deal. Despite O’Riley’s relatively quiet 2024/25 campaign, the idea that Brighton would willingly offload him at a financial loss after just one season seems somewhat unlikely. The club is known for its strategic player development and typically looks to maximise returns on transfers.

While interest from Roma is genuine and persistent, whether Brighton would agree to a cut-price departure remains to be seen.
