“Leeds Snubbed? Midfielder Poised to Choose Rangers Over Whites!”

Rangers Favoured Over Leeds for Shea Charles Transfer After Standout Sheffield Wednesday Loan*

A fresh transfer update has tipped Rangers as the more likely destination for Shea Charles, amid interest from newly promoted Leeds United. The Southampton midfielder, who impressed during a successful loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday, is reportedly on both clubs’ radar this summer.

The Light Blues, now under the management of former Saints boss Russell Martin, are believed to have the edge due to their prior relationship with Charles. Martin, who brought the Northern Ireland international to Southampton from Manchester City in 2023, has previously praised the 21-year-old’s technical quality and maturity, describing him as a key fit for his possession-based system.

According to the *Daily Mail*, Leeds “admire” Charles, but Graeme Bailey reports it is “more likely” the midfielder links up with Martin at Ibrox than makes the leap to Premier League football at Elland Road. Financial hurdles are not seen as a major issue, with Charles reportedly not on high wages.

Charles featured 43 times for Sheffield Wednesday and 38 for Southampton in the Championship. With Rangers potentially restructuring their midfield — amid speculation around Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande — Charles could be an ideal addition.

Russell Martin had previously hinted at recalling Charles in January, praising the trajectory of his loan and hinting at a long-term role: “He needs to keep doing what he’s doing… We’ll continue to assess our situation and what we need.”

Charles, meanwhile, has openly expressed admiration for Martin’s tactical vision and believes he thrives in his manager’s system. All signs now suggest a reunion north of the border could be on the cards.
