Fabrizio Romano Drops Bombshell: Wolves Secure Personal Terms with Celta Vigo’s ‘Unicorn’ Fer Lopez to Replace Man Utd-Bound Cunha

Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to make a splash in the transfer market, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirming that the club have agreed personal terms with Celta Vigo’s 21-year-old attacking midfielder Fer Lopez as a replacement for Matheus Cunha, who recently joined Manchester United in a blockbuster deal.

Wolves, reeling from the departures of Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester United and Manchester City respectively—transfers totaling over £100m—are now focused on rebuilding under manager Vitor Pereira.

Lopez, dubbed a ‘unicorn’ by journalist David Cartlidge for his rare blend of skills, has emerged as a prime target to bolster Wolves’ attacking options.

Lopez, who enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 La Liga season with Celta Vigo, featuring in 17 matches, starting seven, and scoring twice, has agreed to a long-term contract with Wolves.

While his current deal with Celta includes a €40m release clause, super-agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly working his magic to negotiate a lower fee, with talks ongoing between the clubs.

Wolves are keen to finalize the transfer before pre-season to allow the young playmaker time to adapt to the Premier League.

Though Lopez is seen as a direct replacement for Cunha, his relative inexperience means he’s unlikely to immediately replicate the Brazilian’s impact.

Still, Wolves view the versatile Spaniard as a high-potential talent with significant room for growth.

Pereira is also expected to pursue a more experienced forward later in the window to complement Lopez and strengthen the squad.

With Mendes’ influence and Wolves’ ambition, the Molineux faithful are buzzing with anticipation for their new ‘unicorn’ to shine.
