Wolves are on the verge of confirming their first summer signing, with Celta Vigo’s exciting winger Fer Lopez set to arrive in a deal worth approximately €23 million (£19.5m).
After weeks of speculation, talks accelerated over the weekend, and a major breakthrough on Sunday night means the move is now virtually complete.
According to the Express & Star, the transfer agreement is in place and could be finalised within days.
Italian transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has also backed the claim, noting that Lopez has already communicated his intention to join Wolves, and personal terms are believed to be fully agreed.
Lopez, 21, only broke into Celta Vigo’s senior side in the latter half of last season but showed enough promise to attract top-tier interest.
His performances, marked by technical flair and confidence in one-on-one situations, caught the attention of Wolves, who were eager to replace the creativity lost through the exits of Matheus Cunha and Pablo Sarabia.
Though still raw, the Madrid-born talent boasts impressive numbers.
With 11 goals and six assists for Celta B and a goal contribution every 334 minutes in La Liga, Lopez is statistically among the top performers in several key attacking metrics.
He ranks in the top 12% of La Liga wingers for successful dribbles per game (2.43) and has a dribble success rate of 58.1% — an elite mark in Spain’s top flight.
Represented by Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency — which maintains a strong connection to Wolves — Lopez is tipped as a future star.
While he may not immediately fill Cunha’s shoes, the club believes that under the guidance of new manager Vitor Pereira, the youngster can quickly grow into a key player.
Capable of playing across the attacking midfield line, he offers tactical flexibility and natural flair, particularly cutting in from the right onto his left foot.
Given Wolves’ need for depth out wide, Lopez is expected to compete for minutes right away, with preseason offering him a prime opportunity to impress.
He’ll be vying for a spot alongside the likes of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and new recruit Rodrigo Gomes.
