After five impactful seasons in France, Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has opened up about her emotional departure from Paris FC as she prepares to begin a new chapter with Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Women’s Super League.

Nnadozie enjoyed a successful spell in the French capital, where she emerged as one of Africa’s top shot-stoppers. Her contributions helped Paris FC qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League and claim the Coupe de France Féminine title in her final season. She featured in 118 matches during her time with the club.

Reflecting on her time in France following Nigeria’s recent win over Tunisia, Nnadozie described Paris as a “second home,” adding that the support she received from the club and fans made her departure all the more difficult. However, the pull of a new challenge ultimately swayed her decision.

“I spent five seasons there and they welcomed me so well. I feel like one of them,” she said. “But it’s time to move on. I’ve found a new home and hopefully it’s going to be a better one.”

Although she has yet to land in England, the response from Nigerian supporters in Brighton has already given her a strong sense of belonging. She noted that messages from local fans have been pouring in, eagerly anticipating her arrival.

“I’ve not been there yet, but the Nigerian fans in Brighton have been sending messages—they can’t wait to receive me,” she revealed. “There are so many Nigerians in the UK, so I’m confident it will be a good experience.”

While she didn’t disclose the club’s expectations for her, Nnadozie made it clear that her focus is on improvement and making a strong impression once she joins up with her new teammates following the WAFCON campaign.
