Wolves on Verge of Major Signing as Marc Pubill Deal Nears Completion – Premier League Move Looms in Late Transfer Drama
Wolves are closing in on the signing of highly-rated Spanish full-back Marc Pubill from Almeria, with sources indicating the deal could be finalized in a matter of days.
The Premier League club has been actively searching for a new right-back following the departure of long-serving defender Nelson Semedo earlier this summer.
Head coach Vitor Pereira has thus far relied on Ki-Jana Hoever and Matt Doherty during pre-season preparations, but is reportedly determined to bring in a more proven, first-choice option ahead of the new campaign.
Marc Pubill, 22, has emerged as Wolves’ top target to fill the vacancy. According to Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto, negotiations with Almeria are at an advanced stage, and a full agreement between the clubs is said to be “very close.” Talks have progressed swiftly, and signatures on the deal could be finalized within days.
Pubill, who featured 40 times for Almeria last season and racked up over 3,100 minutes in La Liga, has attracted attention beyond England, with AC Milan previously expressing strong interest.
He almost joined Atalanta last summer, but a knee injury scuppered that move despite a fee being agreed.
As a result, Wolves are expected to carry out thorough medical checks before any contract is signed to ensure the full-back is fully fit and ready for Premier League football.
While Pubill has never played outside of Spain, his consistent performances in La Liga have made him a sought-after talent. If the move goes through, he will be joining Wolves just in time to embed himself in Vitor Pereira’s tactical setup during the remainder of the pre-season.
Wolves’ upcoming friendlies include clashes with Stoke City, Lens, Girona, and Celta Vigo—matches that could potentially see Pubill make his unofficial debut if the deal is completed in time.
