On Wednesday night, Danilo was again called upon in Champions League qualifying, with Cyriel Dessers sidelined through injury and Hamza Igamane unavailable.
The fallout from last weekend’s dire 1–1 draw with St Mirren only added to the drama, as Russell Martin revealed Igamane had refused to come on at half-time.
His reasoning? He didn’t want to risk injury with a transfer on the horizon.
That revelation confirmed what many suspected: Igamane has played his last game in a Rangers shirt.
The Moroccan, who netted 16 times last season—including four goals in the Europa League—will now complete a £10.4m move to Lille, just a year after Rangers snapped him up from AS FAR for £1.7m.
For the club, it’s a tidy profit, but it leaves a gaping hole up front.
The question now: who replaces him?
According to journalist Nil Solà, Rangers are close to securing the services of North Macedonian striker **Bojan Miovski** from Girona.
A deal worth £2.6m, potentially rising to £4.2m, is being finalised, and the player is already en route to Scotland.
Should the move go through, Miovski will become only the second Macedonian to represent Rangers, following Bajram Fetai’s fleeting 18-minute cameo back in 2004.
Expectations for Miovski, however, are much higher.
Miovski is no stranger to Scottish football. He became a cult hero at Aberdeen after arriving from MTK Budapest in 2022, scoring an impressive 44 goals in 98 appearances.
He was lethal in big games too, finding the net against Celtic three times and scoring four times against Rangers themselves.
His prolific run also elevated his international career, with 33 caps for North Macedonia and five goals in his last nine matches.
His move to Girona last year didn’t deliver the same fireworks—only four goals in a struggling side—but his track record in Scotland suggests he can thrive again.
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has already described him as “phenomenal” and capable of delivering in the biggest moments, while ex-teammate Nicky Devlin once declared him “the best in the league in his position.”
Statistically, Miovski offers a different profile to Igamane.
While the Moroccan provided creativity and link-up play, Miovski is a penalty-box predator, with nearly one-fifth of his touches coming inside the area and a higher shot accuracy rate.
His numbers are even more striking given Aberdeen’s limited attacking power compared to Rangers.
In fact, in the SPFL era, only three players outside the Old Firm—Lawrence Shankland, Adam Rooney, and Miovski himself—have managed back-to-back 16+ goal seasons.
With Rangers’ superior supply lines, his goal tally could explode at Ibrox.
For a club mired in chaos, Rangers may just have stumbled upon the poacher they desperately need.
