Roberto Mancini Walks Away from Nottingham Forest Job After Talks Collapse — Premier League Return Now Off the Table

Former Italy and Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini will not be taking charge at Nottingham Forest after negotiations between the two parties reportedly broke down without agreement.

According to multiple outlets including Telegraph Sport and Sky Sport Italia, the 60-year-old was considered a leading candidate to succeed Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked earlier this week — Forest’s second managerial change of the season following the departure of Nuno Espírito Santo in September.

Talks between Mancini and the Premier League side reportedly intensified over the last 24 hours, but as transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed, the discussions ended without a deal, with both sides agreeing that the timing “wasn’t right.”

This development effectively ends Forest’s brief pursuit of Mancini, whose interest in the job was said to be short-lived. Rumours had also linked the club to Luciano Spalletti, though those claims were quickly dismissed.

Had Mancini accepted, it would have marked a dramatic Premier League comeback for the man who led Manchester City to their iconic 2012 title triumph — but for now, Forest’s search for a new manager continues.
