Everton’s heavy 4–1 home loss to Newcastle United has reportedly sparked a renewed sense of urgency within David Moyes’ camp, pushing the manager to target reinforcements when the winter transfer window opens. Despite sitting 14th in the Premier League, the Toffees remain only four points from the top four, and club owners The Friedkin Group are prepared to support Moyes in bolstering the squad for a European push.

Transfer insider Alan Nixon reports that Moyes wants to bring back Antonee Robinson — currently at Fulham — a player who initially came through Everton’s youth ranks. Now 28, Robinson was highly regarded during his time at Goodison Park, but the club eventually sold him to Wigan Athletic in 2019 due to being buried in the depth chart behind Leighton Baines and Lucas Digne.

That move proved beneficial for Robinson, who excelled at Wigan before earning a £2m transfer to Fulham in 2020. Since then, he’s racked up 193 appearances and established himself as a highly capable left-back, drawing interest from elite clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester City. However, a knee injury has limited him to just three Premier League outings so far this season, though this has not deterred Everton’s interest.

Nixon suggests Fulham might consider selling Robinson for around £25m — a fee some analysts argue might undervalue the defender given his track record and the fact he’s locked into a contract through 2028, putting Fulham under no immediate pressure to negotiate.

Everton’s need is clear: Ukrainian left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko remains the default starter largely due to lack of alternatives, rather than exceptional form. Meanwhile, youngster Adam Aznou — recruited from Bayern Munich in the summer — is regarded as a developmental player and has yet to debut in the Premier League. Robinson’s arrival would finally provide depth and internal competition on the left flank.

On Robinson’s end, securing consistent playing time ahead of his U.S. national team duties for next year’s World Cup could make a return to Goodison appealing. Still, the crucial question remains whether £25m will be enough to prise him away in January.

Everton are also evaluating additional defensive support — including right-back coverage — as well as bolstering the striker position, making this a busy and potentially transformative winter window for the club.
