Brighton & Hove Albion are already planning ahead in midfield, with the club actively tracking potential successors to Carlos Baleba amid growing interest in the Cameroonian from Europe’s elite. One name firmly on their radar is FC Nordsjælland youngster Caleb Yirenkyi.
According to *Fussball Transfers*, the Seagulls have identified the 19-year-old as a possible long-term option, with the Danish club believed to value him in the region of €15–20 million.
Yirenkyi only arrived at Nordsjælland in 2024 after progressing through the highly respected Right to Dream Academy, but his development has been rapid. He has already broken into the first team and established himself as a regular presence, while also earning eight senior caps for Ghana—an impressive achievement at such a young age.
Brighton’s interest is hardly surprising. The club has a strong recruitment relationship with Nordsjælland, having previously signed Simon Adingra and Ibrahim Osman, both of whom also emerged from the Right to Dream system. That shared pathway has made the Danish club a familiar and trusted market for Brighton’s scouting department.
At this stage, a move for Yirenkyi is not considered imminent. Any decision to act—particularly during the January transfer window—will likely hinge on how quickly Brighton need to address Baleba’s future. The midfielder continues to attract serious attention, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich all reportedly monitoring his situation.
Brighton could yet choose a familiar strategy: securing a deal in January with the intention of completing the transfer in the summer. The club has frequently used this approach when recruiting young talents, allowing them to plan well in advance.
For now, Yirenkyi remains one to watch rather than a guaranteed arrival. His path to the Premier League may ultimately depend on whether Baleba departs—and just how strong the interest in Brighton’s midfield lynchpin becomes in the months ahead.
