The representatives of Sunderland target Yacine Titraoui are reportedly hesitant to approve a move to Premier League strugglers Wolves, given the strong possibility that the Midlands side could be relegated to the Championship this season — a development that may strengthen Sunderland’s chances of landing the midfielder.

Earlier this month, reports indicated that Regis Le Bris’ Sunderland had tried to secure the Algerian international from Sporting Charleroi last year, but their approach was ultimately rebuffed by the Belgian club.

Despite that setback, a transfer to England still appears to be a realistic possibility for Titraoui. The 22-year-old has impressed this campaign, registering four goals and two assists from midfield in 31 appearances across all competitions. Represented by a leading English agency, he continues to be linked with a potential Premier League switch.

Charleroi, meanwhile, are aiming to command a sizeable fee for the midfielder, particularly if he makes the move to England. However, they would not pocket the full transfer sum. His former club, AC Paradou, negotiated a significant sell-on clause — believed to be around 25% — when Titraoui completed his move from Algeria to Belgium in 2024.

Latest update on Titraoui’s future

According to Africa Foot, if Titraoui does head to England, Wolves are unlikely to be his destination. His agents are reportedly unwilling to entertain interest from a club that is expected to be competing in the second tier next season.

At present, Rob Edwards’ side sit bottom of the Premier League table, 17 points adrift of safety with only 10 games remaining. Unless they produce a remarkable turnaround, relegation appears inevitable.

Titraoui is said to be prioritising a “sporting project at the highest level”, and although Wolves recently made a firm approach, his camp has dismissed the idea of a move to Molineux.

This stance could benefit Sunderland as well as Leeds United, both of whom are believed to be tracking the midfielder ahead of the summer window. Any club wishing to secure his services is expected to meet Charleroi’s reported asking price of more than £7 million.
