The visitors turned the match around in devastating fashion, scoring three goals in a 10-minute spell during the first half after Micky van de Ven was sent off for bringing down Ismaila Sarr when the forward was through on goal.
Both the players and supporters inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium appeared stunned as the scale of the club’s struggles became increasingly clear.
According to reports from TEAMtalk, Spurs are now seriously considering dismissing interim manager Igor Tudor and replacing him with former club striker Robbie Keane.
Tudor was appointed to help pull the team away from the relegation zone, but the situation has worsened since the departure of Thomas Frank last month. Tottenham have lost all three matches under Tudor so far, raising doubts about his future.
The report claims the Croatian coach is under significant pressure following the defeat to Palace, with Keane emerging as a leading candidate to take charge.
Tottenham are now without a win in 11 matches in the Premier League, while the teams just below them—West Ham United and Nottingham Forest—are currently in stronger form.
Spurs face a daunting schedule ahead. Their next league game is away to Liverpool at Anfield next Sunday, while they also have a trip to face Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League earlier in the week.
Tottenham weighing Keane appointment
Initially, Tottenham had planned to appoint a temporary manager while searching for a long-term solution. However, TEAMtalk reports the club could rethink that strategy if results fail to improve quickly.
Keane could represent a credible alternative. The 45-year-old is currently managing Ferencvárosi TC in Hungary, where he is attempting to win a second consecutive league title and has recorded a win rate of around 61%.
Before that, he enjoyed success with Maccabi Tel Aviv, winning 41 of his 56 matches in charge and strengthening his reputation as a promising coach.
Another factor in Keane’s favour is his deep connection with Tottenham and his familiarity with the Premier League. As a former Spurs forward who starred at White Hart Lane, he remains popular with supporters.
If appointed, Keane could quickly win over the fan base and potentially unite the club during what is shaping up to be a tense fight to avoid relegation.
