AliousIgor Tudor is already under pressure at Tottenham Hotspur just a little over three weeks after being appointed as interim manager.
The Croatian was brought in to replace Thomas Frank with the mission of guiding the club away from relegation danger. Instead, his start has been disastrous. Tottenham have lost all three matches since his arrival, suffering defeats against Arsenal F.C., Fulham F.C. and Crystal Palace F.C..
The statistics underline how serious the situation has become. Spurs currently sit at the bottom of the recent form table, while relegation rivals such as West Ham United F.C. have lost only once in their last five games. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest F.C. have recorded two draws and three defeats over the same period.
As a result, fears of relegation are growing among supporters. Dropping out of the Premier League would not only cost the club its top-flight status but could also lead to huge financial losses and the departure of several important players.
Possible squad changes if Spurs go down
Tudor’s deal runs only until the end of the season, meaning he is unlikely to oversee a rebuild even if Tottenham are relegated. A new manager would likely take charge at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and face major decisions regarding the squad.
According to John Wenham, who runs the Lilywhite Rose podcast, Spurs could see a significant player exodus if they fall into the bottom three.
Wenham believes several departures are already likely. Midfielder Yves Bissouma has recently returned to the starting lineup but could leave in the summer. Defender Ben Davies is also out of contract and is currently studying for UEFA coaching qualifications, suggesting he may move on.
Meanwhile, Manor Solomon has impressed while on loan at ACF Fiorentina and could make that move permanent. Reports have also suggested that striker Alejo Véliz has already agreed a deal to join Brazilian club Esporte Clube Bahia for around £10 million.
Another temporary arrival, Randal Kolo Muani, is expected to return to Juventus F.C. after his loan spell.
Altogether, Wenham believes that at least five players could leave the club if Spurs are relegated, with potentially more exits to follow.
More key players could follow
Several senior figures may also depart if Tottenham’s situation worsens. Centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have both been linked with moves away from North London, while right-back Pedro Porro has reportedly attracted interest from Atlético Madrid.
Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is also said to be considering a return to Serie A after an inconsistent spell in England.
At the same time, Tottenham’s promising young talents — including Mathys Tel, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray — would likely hesitate to spend a crucial stage of their development playing in the EFL Championship.
If relegation does become reality, Tottenham could therefore face a dramatic squad overhaul during the summer transfer window.
