AliousIgor Tudor is still in charge of Tottenham Hotspur on an interim basis, but his future at the club looks increasingly uncertain.
The Croatian was appointed in February to replace Thomas Frank, yet his start has been far from encouraging. Tottenham have lost all three matches since his arrival, leaving them just one point above the relegation zone.
Although the Lilywhites finished 17th in the Premier League last season, they were never seriously threatened by relegation. This campaign, however, has been far more alarming, with the North London club drifting dangerously close to the bottom three after a series of poor results.
The crisis deepened on Thursday night when Tudor’s side suffered a disappointing 3–1 home defeat to Crystal Palace F.C..
Redknapp open to helping Spurs avoid relegation
Following that defeat, some supporters have called for yet another managerial change as Tottenham attempt to avoid the shock of relegation. Despite the pressure, the club’s board have decided to continue backing Tudor for the time being, giving him the opportunity to turn the situation around.
However, former Spurs midfielder and talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara believes the club should consider bringing in a familiar face. He suggested Tottenham should contact former manager Harry Redknapp in an attempt to rescue their season.
Redknapp has not managed a team since September 2017, but he has indicated that he would be willing to step in if his former club asked for help. Even so, the 79-year-old does not believe such a scenario is particularly likely.
In desperate situations, clubs sometimes turn to experienced figures for short-term solutions. If Tottenham were to dismiss Tudor, Redknapp’s past experience at the club and his deep knowledge of the league could make him a reassuring option.
For now, though, Tottenham’s leadership are standing by Tudor despite the growing pressure. With the club edging dangerously close to the relegation zone, supporters are understandably anxious and eager for improvement after seeing little positive impact since the Croatian replaced Frank last month.
Whether the board maintain their faith in Tudor or eventually decide to make another change could prove crucial in determining Tottenham’s fate this season.
