AliousSean Dyche has surprisingly emerged as a possible candidate for the managerial role at Tottenham Hotspur, although the club is currently continuing with head coach Igor Tudor for the time being.
Tudor has endured a disastrous start to his tenure, losing all four matches since taking charge. As a result, Tottenham now sit just one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League.
Their struggles have also extended into Europe. Spurs suffered a heavy 5–2 defeat to Atlético Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 tie on Tuesday night, further compounding the club’s difficulties. Tottenham now face a tough league trip to Liverpool FC on Sunday afternoon, and by kickoff they could potentially slip into the bottom three of the table.
Dyche, who was dismissed by Nottingham Forest just a month ago, is currently available after previous managerial spells at Everton FC, Burnley FC and Watford FC. Reports suggest the experienced coach is aware of Tottenham’s interest and could become the club’s second interim manager of the year if a change is made.
For now, Tudor is expected to remain in charge for the clash at Anfield. However, a fifth consecutive defeat could quickly bring an end to the former Juventus FC coach’s short spell in North London. Should the club decide to make a change, Dyche is believed to be among the leading contenders.
Speaking recently on The Football Boardroom podcast, Dyche hinted that he has already received offers from high-level clubs. The 54-year-old suggested he is content with his career achievements but remains open to future opportunities, stressing that stepping away from management would be his own decision rather than a lack of interest from clubs.
Despite that stance, Tottenham’s ongoing crisis could yet persuade him to return to the touchline sooner than expected. The club, who dismissed Thomas Frank in February, have now lost six matches in a row across all competitions for the first time in their 143-year history.
After their trip to Liverpool, Spurs face a daunting task in the second leg against Atlético Madrid next Wednesday, before hosting Nottingham Forest in what could prove to be a crucial relegation battle the following weekend.
