Pressure on Tudor intensified after Spurs suffered a chaotic 5–2 defeat to Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night. The heavy loss has further raised questions about the Croatian’s future at the club.
Tottenham confirmed that Tudor is still scheduled to address the media at Friday’s pre-match press conference, where speculation surrounding his position is expected to dominate discussion.
Reports suggest Dyche is aware of interest from Spurs, with the club’s hierarchy considering the former Burnley FC manager as a potential option should they decide to make a managerial change.
The defeat in Madrid produced more unwanted milestones for Tottenham. Young goalkeeper Antonín Kinský was substituted after just 17 minutes following two costly mistakes, highlighting the team’s disastrous start.
The result also saw Tudor become the first Tottenham manager to lose his opening four matches in charge. Additionally, the North London side have now suffered six consecutive defeats for the first time in the club’s history.
Despite having been in the role for only 25 days, Tudor declined to discuss his future after the match.
Following the humiliating loss, the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust called for immediate action from the club’s leadership. In a strongly worded statement, the group labelled the performance “a total disgrace” and said it reflected the alarming state of affairs at Spurs.
Meanwhile, Dyche recently left his position at Nottingham Forest after a difficult spell under owner Evangelos Marinakis, who had already made several managerial changes this season in an attempt to steer the club away from relegation. Dyche departed after overseeing just two victories in his final ten league matches.
Despite that record, Dyche’s reputation for organising resilient teams and guiding struggling sides away from danger is reportedly why Tottenham’s decision-makers see him as a viable candidate.
In their statement, the supporters’ trust also criticised what they see as a lack of strong leadership at the club, pointing to questionable decisions in both the January transfer window and recent managerial appointments.
The group warned that Tottenham appear to be “sleepwalking towards disaster” and insisted urgent action is required to prevent further decline. They added that fans who travelled to Madrid deserved refunds for their match tickets after witnessing such a disappointing performance.
Ultimately, the supporters stressed that their main desire is to see a team and a club they can feel proud of once again.
