Former Gustavo Poyet has suggested he would be open to managing Tottenham Hotspur as the club continues to struggle this season.

The 58-year-old is currently without a managerial role and believes his familiarity with the club could help turn their situation around. In recent weeks, Spurs have been linked with several former players and managers as speculation grows over the future of current boss Igor Tudor.

Speaking about the situation, Poyet said:
“I remember before Igor Tudor got the job, people were talking about Robbie Keane – rightly so. They were talking about Tim Sherwood – rightly so. Even Harry Redknapp was being asked about it.

“And I was sitting at home thinking, ‘Why not me?’ I’ve been there. I know the club and I understand what a relegation battle is like.

“I know what needs to be done. At least I have the experience. I know the Premier League. Sometimes it’s funny that your name isn’t mentioned, but that’s how things are now.”

Tudor was appointed as an interim manager with the hope that he could steady the team’s form. However, results have not improved, and Tottenham remain locked in a battle to avoid relegation. With survival in the top flight at stake, the club may soon have to decide whether to make another managerial change.

Poyet has previous experience in English football, but it remains to be seen if Spurs would be willing to appoint him. Such a move might not excite supporters, who would likely prefer a high-profile manager with a strong track record at the top level.

While Poyet’s knowledge of the club and experience managing teams in difficult situations could be useful, Tottenham may need to set their sights higher. With a squad that possesses clear quality, the right manager could still unlock the team’s full potential.
