Now, after Everton shared a video of his brilliant goal at the Emirates Stadium in 2013 ahead of Saturday evening’s Premier League clash with Arsenal, Gerard Deulofeu responded with a brief but heartfelt message.

Deulofeu’s dramatic equaliser came in the 84th minute in December 2013, just four minutes after Mesut Özil had put Arsenal ahead. The late goal prevented the Gunners from moving seven points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Interestingly, Arsenal currently sit seven points ahead at the summit once again, meaning Everton taking points off them this weekend would echo that moment from the past.
The goal itself was a superb piece of skill. Deulofeu dropped his shoulder twice before unleashing a powerful strike beyond goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny. After Everton posted the clip of the memorable moment on social media, the Spaniard simply replied: “MISS YOU.”
Supporters still look back fondly on that period under Roberto Martínez. The Everton side involved in that 1–1 draw featured key players such as Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas, Steven Pienaar, James McCarthy, Gareth Barry and Seamus Coleman. That strong core, combined with the flair of Deulofeu, helped Everton finish fifth in the 2013/14 season.
Now 31, Deulofeu is working to revive his career after enduring a difficult spell with injuries at Udinese. The message from Everton may well have lifted his spirits.
He previously expressed similar feelings in November while speaking to the club’s media team, suggesting he still holds the Toffees close to his heart after making 75 appearances across two spells at Goodison Park.
