Thierno Barry has released a statement on social media after a video surfaced online that appeared to show some of his friends involved in an incident during Everton’s 2–0 defeat to Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.

In his message, the French forward condemned the behaviour seen in the video, stressing that football stadiums should be environments where everyone feels safe and respected.

Barry explained that his friends were eventually escorted out of the ground by Arsenal’s security team along with police officers due to concerns about their safety.

Posting on his Instagram story, Barry wrote that the situation was unacceptable and ruined what should have been an enjoyable matchday experience.

He said he had invited his friends to watch the game, but the actions of a few individuals spoiled the occasion. Barry added that football should always be a welcoming space for supporters and insisted that such conduct has no place in the sport.

The forward also revealed that his friends and others involved in the confrontation had to be guided out of the stadium by Arsenal security staff and the police because there were fears of retaliation from supporters.

Barry also appeared to share troubling footage of the altercation at the Emirates on his Instagram story.
