AliousIgor Tudor finally picked up his first point as Tottenham manager after guiding his side to a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Anfield, with Richarlison’s late equaliser rescuing a valuable result.
The point looked even more significant given that both West Ham and Nottingham Forest also managed to collect points over the weekend, though Spurs’ performance itself offered genuine encouragement.
That came despite reports suggesting Tottenham were prepared to part ways with Tudor had they suffered defeat to Liverpool, with their Premier League status still hanging in the balance.
Tottenham reconsider Tudor decision
According to Football Insider, there had been growing concerns prior to the Liverpool clash that Tudor was beginning to lose the dressing room, amid claims of unrest among the squad.
However, Spurs’ resilient display — coming from behind against a strong Liverpool side — has cast doubt on those concerns and sparked fresh optimism within the club.
Speaking to Football Insider, Brown admitted he was impressed by Tottenham’s response:
“There were encouraging signs for Tottenham. Before the weekend, most people expected Liverpool to win comfortably.
“So credit to Tottenham — they showed up, worked hard, and fought for the result. It was a big improvement from what we’ve seen.
“Given everything that was being said during the week, their performance was a surprise.
“Many thought this could be Tudor’s final game, but he’s bought himself more time.
“Now the challenge is consistency — he needs to get those same performances every week, not just for big occasions like Anfield.”
What next for Tudor?
It was previously revealed on 7 March that Tottenham planned to give Tudor a short window — around four matches — to turn things around during a crucial stage of the season.
Following their result against Atletico Madrid, there had been suggestions his time could be cut even shorter, with defeat at Anfield widely expected to end his tenure.
Instead, the draw has likely earned him a temporary reprieve, though the pressure remains firmly on.
Tottenham now face a decisive run of fixtures, including the second leg of their Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid on 18 March, followed by a crucial league clash against Nottingham Forest on 22 March.
That match, in particular, could prove pivotal. A defeat would drag Spurs closer to the relegation zone — and potentially into the bottom three — depending on results elsewhere, including West Ham’s.
