AliousUli Hoeneß has never been shy when it comes to spending big, but even he concedes that Harry Kane has proven worth every cent. Bayern Munich brought in the England captain from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023 for a record €100 million fee.
At the time, the move sparked plenty of debate — concerns over his age, the hefty price tag, his injury record, and whether Bayern could have negotiated a better deal with Daniel Levy all fueled skepticism.
Fast forward three years, and those doubts have completely faded. Kane’s transfer has turned out to be an overwhelming success — arguably beyond what anyone expected, including Hoeneß himself.
Recently speaking to the media, Hoeneß couldn’t hide his admiration. In an interview with Goal, he said he would now be willing to pay as much as €150 million for Kane, describing him as a “dream” signing for Bayern. He praised the striker not only as a global icon but also as a strong شخصیت and mentor, highlighting how he supports younger players and guides them on and off the pitch.
He echoed the same sentiment again in a separate interview with Kicker, admitting that even he once questioned the €100 million fee. Now, however, he sees Kane as invaluable — a leader who nurtures Bayern’s young talents, shares his experience, and sets an example for the next generation.
Of course, making such glowing statements just before potential contract talks might not be the most strategic move. But Hoeneß has always been known for speaking candidly. His unwavering belief in Kane’s success could also signal confidence in future big-money transfers — after all, it’s much easier to spend heavily again when a previous investment has paid off so handsomely.
