Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly working to a set deadline as they weigh up the future of Igor Tudor, who has endured a difficult spell on the touchline.

The north London side remain perilously close to the relegation zone, sitting just one point above the bottom three, which has intensified concerns about their Premier League survival.

With the threat of dropping out of the division growing, the club is said to be exploring alternative managerial options for the remainder of the campaign.

Sean Dyche addresses Tottenham links

One name frequently mentioned in connection with the Spurs job is Dyche, whose extensive top-flight experience and track record in relegation battles make him a logical candidate.

However, whether there is any truth to the speculation is still unclear. The former Burnley and Everton boss has now responded publicly to the rumours.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Dyche dismissed the claims with a humorous anecdote, recalling a recent moment in a north London pub. He explained that a fan suggested he was in talks with Spurs, to which he joked that it seemed unlikely given he was casually enjoying a pint nearby—hardly the setting for contract negotiations.

Dyche reflects on transfer speculation

During the same interview, Dyche also spoke more broadly about how speculation in football is often misinterpreted. He pointed out that managers are frequently placed in difficult positions when responding to such questions.

Using Tottenham as an example, he explained that even polite or respectful answers—such as expressing admiration for a club—can easily be twisted into headlines suggesting interest. On the other hand, outright denials can also be spun negatively, making it nearly impossible to respond without fueling further speculation.

Dyche added that this cycle of misinterpretation is a common challenge in the modern game, where comments are often taken out of context regardless of intent.
