Roma’s Managerial Carousel Continues Under Friedkin’s Reign as Juric Exit Marks Second Dismissal This Season
Dan Friedkin, the prospective Everton owner, has demonstrated his decisive approach to club management with another significant change at AS Roma, dismissing Ivan Juric after just 12 matches in charge. The decision follows Sunday’s 3-2 home defeat to Bologna, which left the capital club languishing in 12th place with 13 points from 12 games.
Juric’s brief tenure – yielding four wins, three draws, and five losses – marks the second managerial change at Roma this season under Friedkin’s ownership. The Croatian coach, who arrived with a strong reputation from his three-year spell at Torino, had replaced club legend Danielle De Rossi, whose September dismissal just four games into the season had already sparked considerable fan unrest. De Rossi’s departure was particularly controversial given he had only signed a three-year contract in June.
The club’s official statement acknowledged Juric’s professionalism during his short spell: “We would like to thank Ivan Juric for his hard work these past weeks. He handled a difficult environment with the utmost professionalism, and for that we are grateful.” The statement also confirmed that the search for a new head coach is already underway.
This latest managerial change continues a pattern under Friedkin’s ownership, which previously saw Jose Mourinho’s departure despite the Portuguese manager delivering Roma’s first European trophy since 1961 with the UEFA Europa Conference League victory in 2021/22.
The frequency of these changes at Roma could provide interesting insight into Friedkin’s potential management style should his proposed Everton takeover materialize, with the Houston-based billionaire showing a willingness to make swift decisions when results don’t meet expectations.
