There has been significant speculation around the future of Leicester City manager Steve Cooper, with many pundits and fans expecting him to be sacked at some point this season. However, Cooper’s position is not completely untenable at the moment, as the team’s results and performances, while not ideal, are not disastrous either.
Nevertheless, reports suggest Cooper’s standing as Leicester’s manager has been shaky from the beginning. The former Nottingham Forest boss is seemingly under constant pressure at the King Power Stadium.
Two high-profile managers have allegedly been linked to potentially replacing Cooper if he is let go: Graham Potter and David Moyes.
Graham Potter was reportedly pursued by Leicester over the summer, but he turned down the opportunity. However, there are now suggestions that Potter is interested in the Leicester job, perhaps hoping to return to management.
Additionally, former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes is said to be another candidate that Leicester are considering, should they decide to part ways with Cooper.
Recent incident involving Leicester midfielder Harry Winks during the team’s match against Manchester United. After Abdul Fatawu made a poor decision that wasted a counterattacking opportunity, Winks visibly expressed his frustration by slamming his fist into the ground.
While the journalist acknowledges that Winks’ reaction was understandable given Fatawu’s mistake, they suggest the experienced midfielder should have addressed the issue privately with the young winger rather than displaying his anger so publicly.
Leicester defense was actually better in the Manchester United game, as claimed by a Leicester-focused journalist, given that the team conceded three goals. It suggests there are some signs of discord within the Leicester camp at the moment.
