James Maddison is continuing his recovery after sustaining an ACL injury during pre-season, an issue that has ruled him out for the entirety of the campaign so far.

The midfielder is making encouraging progress and has recently returned to light training at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way base. However, he is still some distance away from being ready to feature in competitive matches.

Current projections indicate that Maddison is unlikely to return until June, which would mean his comeback comes after the season has ended.

Maddison addresses concerns over viral leg footage

As part of his rehabilitation, the England international has been working intensively in the gym, focusing on strengthening his injured leg. A video of one such session recently circulated online, prompting concern among Spurs fans after his right thigh appeared noticeably smaller than his left.

Some supporters feared the imbalance pointed to muscle loss, raising doubts about how long his recovery might take.

Maddison has since responded to the speculation via social media, dismissing the concerns in a light-hearted manner. Sharing a photo of both legs, he joked: “Admin needs to work on the angles of videoing…”

Spurs await key returns in survival battle

While Maddison’s return remains a longer-term objective, Tottenham will be eager to welcome back other injured players as they battle to avoid relegation.

One such player is Mohammed Kudus, who has been sidelined for around three months but is now closing in on a return. The midfielder has reportedly resumed training ahead of Spurs’ upcoming clash with Sunderland, although it is still uncertain whether he will be fit enough to feature.
