AliousAndy Robertson has announced that he will depart Liverpool at the end of the season, bringing an end to a highly successful nine-year spell at Anfield.
The 32-year-old leaves behind an impressive legacy, having won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, the Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Community Shield. By the time he exits, he is expected to have made close to 380 appearances for the club.
Robertson had been linked with a surprise move to Tottenham in January and is believed to have agreed personal terms, but ultimately chose to remain at Liverpool. However, Spurs are likely to renew their interest this summer, with the Scottish defender now open to a new challenge.
Speaking on Liverpool’s official website, Robertson admitted that the decision to leave was not an easy one.
He said it has been difficult to step away from a club that has played such a significant role in his life and that of his family over the past nine years. Despite receiving opportunities to leave in recent times, he chose to stay due to his deep connection with the club.
However, he acknowledged that football is constantly evolving and feels the time is right for him to move on and embrace whatever comes next in his career.
Reflecting on his time at Liverpool, Robertson expressed pride in his journey, stating that he gave everything to the club and will always cherish the memories. He added that both the club and its supporters will forever hold a special place in his heart.
Despite confirming his departure, Robertson emphasized that his immediate focus remains on finishing the season strongly, helping his teammates, and creating more memorable moments for the fans. He also hinted that an emotional farewell could be on the cards when the campaign draws to a close.
