### Leeds United Urged to Overcome Pressure in Promotion Race

Leeds United legend Danny Mills has emphasized the importance of staying composed under pressure as the Whites push for promotion this season. Reflecting on last season’s struggles, Mills cautioned that the team cannot afford a repeat of their late-season collapse, which saw them lose crucial points and endure heartbreak in the playoff final against Southampton.

#### **A Fresh Push Under Daniel Farke**

This season, Leeds are making another strong bid for promotion under manager Daniel Farke. The team currently looks like a top contender to secure one of the Championship’s automatic promotion spots. Farke’s summer recruitment has received praise, with Mills expressing confidence in the squad’s quality and potential.

Speaking to the *Yorkshire Evening Post*, Mills highlighted the importance of consistency and maintaining composure during high-pressure moments.

“Most of the new players have settled in well, and overall, I think recruitment has been decent,” Mills commented. “Ao Tanaka looks like a really good player, and his partnership with Joe Rothwell in midfield has been key. They bring energy and quality to the team.”

Despite the positive additions, Mills stressed that consistency will be the deciding factor. “They’re doing well, but they’ve got to find that consistency and make sure the pressure doesn’t get to them,” he added.

#### **Lessons From Last Season**

Mills voiced concern over Leeds’ ability to handle expectations, recalling how the team faltered during the final stages of the previous campaign.

“Last season, there was so much pressure to win every single game. The expectations were sky-high, and they just couldn’t get over the line,” he said. “They crumbled a little under that pressure, and that’s something they need to avoid this time around.”

#### **Looking Ahead**

With the final international break of 2024 now over, Leeds are set to resume their promotion push. Their next test will come against Swansea City on Sunday, a match that offers an opportunity to continue building momentum.

Leeds’ squad, bolstered by summer signings, appears well-equipped to challenge for automatic promotion. However, as Mills emphasized, the key will be maintaining focus and consistency as the pressure intensifies toward the end of the season.
