AliousCrystal Palace are reportedly gearing up to submit an improved bid for Liverpool winger Ben Doak after seeing earlier offers turned down, according to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.
The Eagles are said to be preparing an offer exceeding £20 million, edging closer to Liverpool’s valuation of the highly-rated forward. However, the Reds remain firm in their stance that Doak, who is regarded as a key prospect, is not for sale.
Currently on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship, the 19-year-old has been turning heads with his performances, registering two goals and six assists in 21 league appearances this season. Middlesbrough are eager to keep Doak for the remainder of the campaign, but growing interest from Premier League sides, including Palace and Ipswich Town, has made that uncertain.
Liverpool previously rejected a £15 million bid from Palace earlier this month, with reports indicating that the Anfield club values the young Scotsman at around £30 million. Despite the challenges, Palace appear determined to bolster their squad as the January transfer window progresses.
Alongside their pursuit of Doak, Palace are also targeting Lens midfielder Andy Diouf. Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Eagles have approached the French club regarding the 21-year-old. However, Lens remain unwilling to part with Diouf midseason and have refused to entertain negotiations.
Currently 15th in the Premier League standings after 20 games, Palace are looking to strengthen their squad to secure safety under manager Oliver Glasner. The team has won two of its last five matches and is set to play League One side Stockport County in the FA Cup third round this weekend before resuming Premier League action with an away fixture against Leicester City next Wednesday.
