Forest’s summer signings have been key to their impressive rise in the Premier League under Nuno Espírito Santo, with notable contributions from Nikola Milenkovic, whose partnership with Murillo has solidified the defense, and Elliot Anderson, who strengthened the midfield after his arrival from Newcastle United. Both players have been seen as excellent financial investments alongside their solid performances, which makes the club’s missed opportunity in January all the more surprising.

Forest had been linked with Spanish winger Raúl Moro, who had been made available by Real Valladolid. However, it seems that Ajax have moved ahead of Forest in the race for the 21-year-old’s signature. According to *De Telegraaf*, Ajax has reached a ‘personal agreement’ with Moro, and negotiations with Valladolid are now focused on agreeing on a fee. Ajax is offering £5.8 million, slightly below Valladolid’s £8.3 million asking price, but the close gap suggests the deal will likely be concluded without issues.

Moro’s move to Ajax raises questions for Forest, especially given the low price for a player of his caliber. At just £8.3 million, Moro would have been a relative bargain, even cheaper than Ramon Sosa, who has made only one Premier League start for Forest.

Moro, who typically plays on the left wing, has shown strong statistics that surpass those of Forest’s regular left winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi. This season, Moro has completed 30.6% of his crosses per 90 minutes, a significant improvement over Hudson-Odoi’s 16.3%. Moro also leads Hudson-Odoi in completed dribbles per match, with 2.4 compared to Hudson-Odoi’s 1.59.

While Hudson-Odoi may not necessarily need replacing, the statistical advantages Moro offers, especially at such a low price, could have provided an ideal opportunity to strengthen Forest’s attack. Forest may ultimately regret not acting more decisively in the race for Moro.
