Posting on X, Graham explained: “If you’re a striker now and Sunderland want you, you’re looking at them, seeing two strikers at the club already playing, performing, and commanding the trust of the coach, and you’re suddenly wondering how good an opportunity it is for you.” 

Indeed, the duo has been productive, with Isidor and Mayenda contributing 12 combined goals in the 2024/25 Championship season. Their strong form creates a competitive environment that may deter strikers seeking guaranteed minutes. 

### Filtering for the Right Mentality 

While this reality might make Sunderland less appealing to some, it also ensures that only players with the right mindset will consider joining. Strikers who thrive on competition and are willing to fight for their place are exactly what manager Regis Le Bris and sporting director Kristjaan Speakman want in their squad. 

With Sunderland already boasting a capable attacking lineup, adding another forward is not an immediate necessity. However, acquiring a striker with Championship experience and the determination to challenge for a starting spot would be a valuable addition to bolster their promotion push.
