“‘Major Development’: BBC Insider Reveals Sunderland’s Push for Prolific 59-Goal Striker in January Window”

BBC Radio Newcastle’s Nick Barnes shared his thoughts on Sunderland’s links to SønderjyskE striker Emil Jakobsen during a discussion on the *Total Sport* show with Simon Pride. Barnes expressed doubt that the Danish forward is a top priority for the Black Cats in the January transfer window.

“I don’t believe Jakobsen is at the top of Sunderland’s list. While he is in contention, as far as I understand, he’s not their primary target. He’s certainly in the mix, but not the main focus for the club right now,” Barnes explained.

The BBC reporter also shed light on the dynamics behind such transfer rumors, suggesting that external factors might be playing a role. “On the flip side, you have players like Rees Jakobsen who are nearing the end of their contracts—he’s out of contract in the summer, if I’m not mistaken. In these cases, a lot of the speculation can be driven by the player’s agent or even the club itself, trying to generate interest. These are important considerations when assessing these types of transfer links,” Barnes added.
