There is an increasing expectation at Tottenham Hotspur that the club’s goalkeeping department will be reshaped once the season concludes.

Inter Milan have been working behind the scenes for several months on a potential summer move for Spurs’ first-choice goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario. Speculation over his departure is now intensifying, with reports suggesting the Italian side have already agreed personal terms with the shot-stopper.

From Vicario’s standpoint, a return to Italy is an attractive proposition. Inter can offer consistent UEFA Champions League football and are regular contenders for the Serie A title. A move could also strengthen his chances of cementing a place in the Italy national football team setup, given the visibility of playing for one of the country’s top clubs.

Vicario is currently sidelined after undergoing hernia surgery during the March international break, which saw him miss Tottenham’s 1–0 loss to Sunderland. In his absence, Antonín Kinský stepped in and delivered an encouraging performance despite the defeat.

The young Czech goalkeeper had endured a difficult moment earlier in the season, notably during a tough UEFA Champions League outing against Atlético Madrid, where costly errors led to an early substitution by then-interim manager Igor Tudor. However, his display against Sunderland offered a glimpse of redemption, as he produced several key saves across both halves.

Despite that improvement, uncertainty remains over his future. With Spurs linked to James Trafford of Manchester City as a potential new No.1, there are growing calls for Kinský to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Tottenham commentator John Wenham has suggested that both current goalkeepers could depart, arguing that Kinský would benefit from a fresh start. With no European football expected next season, opportunities for rotation will be limited, making regular game time harder to secure.

Kinský, who joined the club in January 2025 during Vicario’s injury spell, was initially viewed as a smart acquisition. However, aside from his recent showing against Sunderland, his performances have been inconsistent.

With Tottenham likely to invest in a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer, remaining at the club as a backup may not serve his development. For the sake of his long-term career, a move away could be the most sensible path forward.
