AliousCrystal Palace are considering a move for Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell as they look to strengthen their options at left-wing-back.
According to former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown—who remains well-connected in the football world—Chilwell would be an ideal fit for the Eagles. Brown previously revealed in November that Palace had been scouting potential left-backs in preparation for the January transfer window.
However, things haven’t gone smoothly for Palace in the market so far, and with injuries piling up, they are expected to be active in the final days of the window to address their squad depth issues.

Earlier this month, Chelsea unexpectedly recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell, dealing a significant blow to Oliver Glasner’s squad. However, his return to Stamford Bridge has opened the door for Palace to secure another loan from Chelsea, with Chilwell emerging as a potential option to compete with Tyrick Mitchell for a starting spot.
Mitchell has been Palace’s only natural left-back this season, playing every game due to a lack of depth in the position. As a result, the club has intensified its search for reinforcements, with Chilwell now on their radar.

Mick Brown, who spent over a decade in player recruitment at Manchester United during their dominant era, believes a move for Chilwell would make sense for all parties involved.
“I’ve heard Palace have shown an interest in Ben Chilwell,” Brown told *Football Insider*.
“We’ve spoken before about Tyrick Mitchell and his future, and whether clubs could come in for him.
“A new left-back has been a priority for Palace because they don’t have much depth in that position.
“It wasn’t long ago that Chilwell was an England international, and while his injuries have been a concern, Palace will have done their homework on his fitness.
“With the transfer window closing soon, options are running out, and the chance to bring him in on loan has opened up following Chalobah’s return to Chelsea.
“He’d be a great addition to the team and a strong fit for Palace’s style of play. Plus, since he already lives in London, the move would be convenient for everyone involved.”
