Crystal Palace are reportedly making a move to secure Marcus Edwards on a short-term loan deal from Sporting CP, with no purchase option included.
According to a report by *Record*, relayed by *Sport Witness*, the 26-year-old winger has been identified as a target for the Eagles, who are eager to strengthen their attacking options before the winter transfer window closes.
### **Edwards’ Uncertain Journey at Sporting CP**
Since joining Sporting CP from Vitoria Guimarães in January 2022, Edwards’ time in Portugal has been inconsistent. He has fluctuated between being a regular starter and a rotational option, struggling to maintain a firm place in the squad.
This season, the former Tottenham Hotspur prospect has found playing time hard to come by, managing fewer than 500 minutes across ten appearances while scoring three goals. Despite his limited game time, he remains on the radar of several Premier League clubs, including Everton and Crystal Palace.
### **Return to London on the Cards?**
Crystal Palace have been monitoring Edwards for some time and even considered a move for him in the summer, though no deal materialized. Now, Oliver Glasner’s side is revisiting the opportunity as they look to ease the attacking burden on Eberechi Eze, Ismaila Sarr, and Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Sporting CP had previously valued Edwards at €20-30 million, but reports indicate that his price tag has now plummeted to just €8 million. Despite this, Crystal Palace are not looking for a permanent transfer at this stage. Instead, they are aiming for a straight loan deal with no obligation to buy.
