The Black Cats are preparing for a high-stakes showdown against Middlesbrough on Monday night, a fixture that could have major implications in the Championship promotion race. By kickoff, Sunderland will be fully aware of how their top-table rivals have fared over the weekend, adding extra pressure to secure a vital result.

Meanwhile, the club remains active in the transfer market, looking to strengthen their attacking options before the window slams shut. Sunderland have already been linked with Chuba Akpom, currently at Ajax, as well as Besiktas forward Semih Kilicsoy, with new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly undecided about his future.

### **Sunderland Prepare Bid for Highly Rated Forward**

According to journalist Santi Aouna, Sunderland are intensifying their pursuit of St. Gallen striker Willem Geubbels after having an initial £6.7 million offer rejected. Union Berlin are also in the race for the Frenchman, but the Black Cats are determined to win the battle for his signature.

Geubbels has long been touted as a top prospect, having represented France across four different youth levels, where he netted 12 goals in 22 appearances. Football talent scout Jacek Kulig previously described him as an “absolute top talent,” and his seven goals in 14 league matches this season suggest he’s beginning to realize his potential.

While Geubbels’ development hasn’t fully met early expectations, Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris may see him as a perfect project—one that could provide the firepower needed for a Premier League promotion push. If the deal goes through, the Black Cats could be adding a much-needed spark to their attack for the season’s crucial run-in.
