Rangers Stalling on Philippe Clement Sacking? Fresh Twist Raises Big Questions!

Philippe Clement’s Future at Rangers Hangs by a Thread

Philippe Clement is facing mounting pressure as his tenure at Rangers continues to unravel, with his job security increasingly in question.

Despite securing a 3-1 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle, speculation over Clement’s future refuses to fade. Rangers’ season has been marred by disappointment, and **the failure to deliver silverware or challenge Celtic in the league has left fans demanding answers.**

A shocking Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Queen’s Park ended any realistic hopes of domestic success, while their significant points gap behind Celtic has made a title challenge virtually impossible. With such a poor campaign, many are left wondering **why Clement is still in charge.**

Financial Constraints Blocking a Decision?

One major obstacle preventing Rangers from pulling the trigger on Clement’s dismissal could be financial. Scottish Sun journalist **Roger Hannah has suggested that the club might not have the resources to sack him**, with Peter Martin (*PLZ Soccer*) estimating the cost of termination at around **£1.2 million**.

Speaking on *Superscoreboard* (17 February), Hannah questioned whether the club has the means to make such a decision:

*”Is it a financial decision? Do Rangers have the financial wherewithal to sack the manager at the minute? Because you then have the expense of going and getting somebody else.”*

If Rangers are indeed holding back due to financial concerns, it paints a bleak picture for the club’s future. **Investment in key areas has already been lacking**, and failure to act now could only deepen their problems.

While the compensation figure may seem steep, a **successful managerial appointment could quickly recoup that sum** through improved performances in domestic cups and European competitions—something the Rangers board must seriously consider.

### Clement’s Days Appear Numbered

At this stage, **Rangers appear reluctant to part ways with Clement before the season’s conclusion**, no matter how bleak things get. Already out of both cup competitions and **a massive 13 points adrift of Celtic**, there’s little left to salvage.

However, once the season ends, **the decision should be crystal clear**. If Rangers want to move forward and rebuild for the next campaign, **Clement cannot remain in charge a day longer than necessary**. His time at Ibrox looks to be running out—whether the club acts on it is another matter.
