“Black Cats Ready to UNLEASH £30m Vitória Star on Championship! The ONE CONDITION Standing Between Mega-Transfer! Fans Going CRAZY! “

Sunderland are keeping a close eye on Marcus Edwards’ progress at Burnley, with the club prepared to reignite their pursuit of the attacking midfielder if the circumstances align this summer.

Journalist Alan Nixon reports that Sunderland had strong interest in Edwards during the January transfer window—first revealed by Portuguese outlet *Record*—but ultimately lost out as Burnley secured his services on loan from Sporting CP until the end of the season.

However, if the transfer landscape shifts, the Black Cats could find themselves back in the mix for his signature.

Sunderland’s Renewed Interest Hinges on One Key Factor**
Edwards’ future could become a major topic of discussion in the coming months, with much depending on how both Burnley and Sunderland finish their respective seasons.

Currently contracted with Sporting CP until 2026, the former Tottenham academy graduate was brought to Turf Moor to bolster Burnley’s promotion push.

He has already made an impact, scoring twice in all competitions, including a goal in Burnley’s commanding 4-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.

Burnley hold an £8 million option to sign Edwards permanently if they achieve Premier League promotion.

However, if they fail to secure a return to the top flight, that deal is far from certain.

Meanwhile, if Sunderland earn promotion from the Championship, they could be in a strong position to capitalize on the situation and revive their interest in the playmaker.

Sunderland only narrowly lost out to Burnley in the race for Edwards in January, and if they reach the Premier League, they are expected to make another push for his signature.

Sunderland’s Transfer Strategy: More Than Just Edwards**
While Edwards remains a player of interest, Sunderland’s summer transfer business will likely be shaped by their ability to retain key members of their squad.

Jobe Bellingham has already attracted interest from Crystal Palace and Tottenham, while Chris Rigg is on the radar of Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Brighton are also expected to return for teenage winger Tommy Watson after failing to secure a deal in January, and Wilson Isidor has drawn interest from Spurs, Leeds United, and Crystal Palace.

The club’s recruitment strategy will largely hinge on whether they secure Premier League football next season.

A top-flight return would put them in a better position to retain talent and strengthen their squad, whereas staying in the Championship could make it more difficult to fend off interest from elite clubs.

The attacking positions are likely to be a major focus for Sunderland this summer, with Edwards fitting the profile of a creative, technically gifted player they are looking for.

His dribbling ability, vision, and versatility could make him an ideal upgrade on Patrick Roberts on the right flank, particularly if Sunderland step up to the Premier League.

Edwards’ Career Path and Potential Sunderland Fit**
A product of Tottenham Hotspur’s academy, Edwards has long been regarded for his flair, quick feet, and ability to unlock defenses.

Since moving to Portugal in 2019, he has refined his game, starring for Vitória de Guimarães before securing a move to Sporting CP.

His time in Portugal has helped him develop into a more well-rounded playmaker, comfortable playing both centrally and on the wings.

If Sunderland win promotion ahead of Burnley, Edwards could provide the creativity and attacking spark they need to compete at the highest level.

A Transfer Saga Worth Watching**
While the fates of both clubs remain uncertain, one thing is clear: Sunderland’s interest in Edwards isn’t going away.

Should the right opportunity arise this summer, the Black Cats will likely make their move, hoping to land the talented attacker this time around.

Until then, Sunderland fans will be keeping a close eye on Edwards’ performances in Burnley colors, knowing that he could still play a crucial role in their club’s future ambitions.
