AliousSunderland manager Regis Le Bris has made significant adjustments to his lineup for their clash against Sheffield Wednesday, introducing five changes from the side that suffered a home defeat to Hull City last weekend.
Two of these changes were unavoidable, as Dan Ballard and Enzo Le Fee have both been ruled out for at least a month due to injury.
However, Le Bris has also taken the opportunity to rotate his squad further, making three additional alterations in response to Sunderland’s back-to-back losses.
Defender Chris Mepham comes into the starting XI, replacing the injured Ballard at centre-back, while Leo Hjelde takes over at left-back from Dennis Cirkin, who drops to the bench.
In midfield, Alan Browne returns to the lineup, joining Dan Neil and Jobe Bellingham in the center of the park. Romaine Mundle slots into the left-hand side of the attack, filling in for the sidelined Le Fee, while Eliezer Mayenda is handed a start up front in place of Wilson Isidor.
Cirkin, Chris Rigg, and Isidor are all named among the substitutes, alongside fit-again defender Jenson Seelt, who is back in the squad.
