AliousWolves forward Matheus Cunha** faces the possibility of missing next month’s high-stakes clash against Ipswich Town after receiving an **FA charge in the wake of his FA Cup red card on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Brazilian was sent off in the final moments of extra time after a heated altercation with Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez. During the scuffle, Cunha lashed out multiple times, throwing kicks and even appearing to attempt a headbutt. His dismissal came shortly after he had scored Wolves’ equalizer, and he had to be physically escorted down the tunnel after the incident.
The FA has now charged him with improper conduct, giving him until Monday to respond. Cunha, who has been in red-hot form with five goals in his last six games, will already serve a three-match suspension for his red card, ruling him out of upcoming fixtures against Everton (H), Southampton (A), and West Ham (H).
However, if the FA extends his ban, he could also be sidelined for Wolves’ crucial trip to Portman Road on April 5, a match that could have major implications for the Premier League relegation battle.
This isn’t the first time Cunha has found himself in disciplinary trouble against Ipswich. Back in December, he was fined £80,000 and handed a two-game suspension for elbowing a Town security official and grabbing his glasses following Ipswich’s 2-1 win at Molineux.
