Lee Hendrie Predicts Summer Interest in Sunderland’s Trai Hume

Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie has suggested that Sunderland right-back Trai Hume could attract significant transfer interest from other clubs during the summer window.

The 22-year-old Northern Ireland international has been a key figure at the Stadium of Light since arriving from Linfield in 2022. His consistency has made him a mainstay in the Black Cats’ lineup, with only one Championship match missed this season due to suspension.

Hume has previously been linked with a move away, with Fulham reportedly considering a bid for him in January. While much of the recent speculation surrounding Sunderland’s squad has focused on high-profile young talents like Jobe Bellingham and Chris Rigg, Hendrie believes that Hume is just as likely to be on the radar of potential suitors—particularly if Sunderland fail to secure Premier League promotion.

Hendrie: Hume’s Performances Will Attract Interest**

Speaking to *Football League World*, Hendrie praised Hume’s impact at Sunderland and predicted that bigger clubs may soon come calling:

“Trai Hume has been outstanding at Sunderland. He’s been incredibly consistent and has really thrived in a young team. Players like him, who perform well week after week in front of a passionate fan base, will naturally catch the attention of other clubs.”**

The former Aston Villa midfielder also emphasized what a bargain Sunderland secured when they signed Hume for just £150,000:

“What a steal he was. For that price, Sunderland got themselves a fantastic player. He’s solid defensively but also a real threat going forward. If they don’t go up this season, I wouldn’t be surprised to see other clubs knocking on the door.”**

Hume Focused on Playing, Not Resting**

Despite his heavy workload, Hume has shown no signs of slowing down and insists he has no desire to take a break. Following Sunderland’s recent 1-1 draw with Preston North End, he made it clear that he is happy to keep playing as long as he’s selected.

“I’m more than happy to keep going. Whether I get a rest or not is up to the manager, but I feel fine. I played every game last season, I’ve played nearly every game this season, and I’ve also featured regularly for my national team. I just want to keep pushing on.”**

Will Sunderland Be Able to Hold On to Hume?**

With his growing reputation and Sunderland’s uncertain promotion prospects, Hume could be the subject of serious transfer interest this summer. If bigger clubs come calling, the Black Cats may face a battle to keep one of their most reliable performers at the club.
