Forest’s Interest in Cunha
Back in January, Cunha’s goal-scoring prowess had already attracted attention from top clubs, with Arsenal and Manchester United monitoring him closely. At that time, Nottingham Forest also made inquiries about a potential transfer. However, the striker ended up signing a new contract with Wolves, which included a release clause of just over £60 million.
Despite this, Forest have maintained their interest, and with the club currently third in the Premier League and on track for a Champions League spot, they are looking to make a serious statement in the transfer market. Their biggest transfer to date remains the £35 million spent on Elliot Anderson last summer, while Morgan Gibbs-White’s transfer fee could eventually surpass that figure depending on performance-based add-ons. However, those add-ons have yet to be fully activated.
The willingness to break their transfer record by such a margin highlights the club’s ambition to cement themselves among England’s elite. Cunha’s proven quality in the Premier League and experience in the Champions League—having played in the competition across three seasons—makes him an attractive target.
Alternative Striking Options
While Cunha is a top priority, Forest are also exploring other attacking options. Reports suggest that they have been in contact with Sporting CP regarding Viktor Gyökeres, who is reportedly “intrigued” by the prospect of moving to the Premier League.
