Following a disappointing penalty shootout loss to Bournemouth in the FA Cup, manager Vitor Pereira guided his team to a hard-fought draw against Everton and then secured a convincing victory over Southampton, the Premier League’s bottom team.
The standout performer in the Southampton match was Jorgen Strand Larsen, who scored twice and basked in the well-deserved praise following the win.
Larsen’s goals have bolstered Wolves’ position in the league, and the focus now shifts to maintaining their momentum and widening the nine-point buffer between themselves and the relegation zone.
One player who will be crucial in the remaining nine matches is Andre, who is a strong contender for Wolves’ next Player of the Month award. His performances against Everton and Southampton have been exceptional, and he’s likely in line to claim the honor for the second time this season.
In the 1-1 stalemate with Everton, Andre dominated the midfield, orchestrating play with a remarkable 97% pass completion rate (73/75) and touching the ball 92 times—only surpassed by the three center-backs.
He was equally impressive against Southampton, completing 47/51 passes (92% accuracy). Across both games, his 120/126 passing record highlights his consistency and composure. Beyond his technical ability, Andre showed grit, contributing eight tackles and 13 defensive actions combined.
His tenacity earned high praise, with one Wolves supporter comparing him to N’Golo Kante after the Everton draw. That game also saw Andre set a Premier League record for the 2024/25 season, regaining possession 11 times in the middle third—more than any other player in a single top-flight match this year. He’s undeniably become one of Wolves’ most vital assets under Pereira.
Other players also stood out in those matches. Toti Gomes and Emmanuel Agbadou were dependable at the back, while Joao Gomes impressed in midfield.
Yet, Andre’s continued growth has set him apart, earning him recognition as one of the standout No. 6s in the Premier League, according to Dave Edwards.
With Wolves now inviting fans to vote for the March Player of the Month, Andre’s recent displays make him a prime candidate to take home the award.
