AliousBrighton and Hove Albion have secured a transfer deal for teenage winger Tommy Watson from Sunderland, with the fee rumored to be around £10 million.
The club announced, “We’re delighted to reveal that we’ve finalized an agreement to bring Tom Watson from Sunderland to Brighton on undisclosed terms.
The 18-year-old, who will celebrate his 19th birthday next week, has signed a contract that extends through June 2029. He’ll officially join the Albion roster when the summer transfer window begins.”
David Weir, Brighton’s technical director, commented, “Tommy is a thrilling young prospect we’ve been monitoring closely for quite some time.
He’s enjoyed a standout debut season with Sunderland, and we’re eager to welcome him to our squad this summer. For the time being, though, his priority remains contributing to Sunderland’s efforts to end their campaign on a high note.”
Brighton also noted, “The winger first stepped onto the Championship stage in April 2023, entering as a late substitute during Sunderland’s 1-1 stalemate with Huddersfield.
Since then, he’s featured in 17 senior matches for the Black Cats, with a highlight being his two-goal performance in a 2-1 victory against Stoke City in December.
Tom has also earned caps for England at the under-17 and under-18 levels, making his under-18 debut in October 2023.”
