Could Wolves Loanee Be Handed a Surprise Role?
One such player is Chiquinho, who has spent the season on loan at Real Mallorca. However, despite nearly a full campaign in Spain, the Portuguese winger has struggled for game time, making just nine appearances across all competitions.
With his Wolves contract set to expire at the end of next season, Chiquinho’s future remains uncertain, and a permanent departure seems likely. However, Wolves expert Liam Keen has speculated that Pereira—who has yet to work with the 25-year-old—might consider testing him in a new role before making a final decision.
“I’m not convinced he has a long-term future at Wolves,” Keen said on the *Keen & Judah Show* on *ShotsTV*. “But if you look at how Vítor Pereira likes to set up his teams, Chiquinho could potentially be trialed as a wing-back. Defensively, though, there’s a lot of work to be done.”
### **A Risky Experiment?**
While Keen’s suggestion is intriguing, Wolves are unlikely to take such a gamble. The club invested in Chiquinho when they signed him from Estoril Praia in January 2022, but he has failed to make a significant impact.
Not only has he struggled to meet expectations, but attempting to transition him into a demanding new role with just one year left on his contract would be a considerable risk. With his time at Molineux seemingly coming to an end, a fresh start elsewhere appears to be the more likely outcome.
