Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly stepping up their interest in Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares, with the Portuguese full-back attracting increasing attention ahead of the summer transfer window. Currently on loan at Lazio, Tavares appears to be part of a deal that includes an “obligation to buy,” although that has not deterred Premier League suitors.
The 25-year-old, who has previously played for Nottingham Forest, Benfica, Marseille, and made 28 appearances for Arsenal, has emerged as a key target for Brighton, according to reports from *La Lazio Siamo Noi*. The Seagulls are said to be “particularly interested” in securing his services, though Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Forest are also in the frame.
Brighton’s current left-back options include Pervis Estupiñán, and Ferdi Kadioglu—who has spent most of the season sidelined with a toe injury—but a defensive shake-up may be on the cards.
Adding to the defensive uncertainty, Tariq Lamptey is now being tipped for a summer exit. The pacey right-back, who joined Brighton from Chelsea for £3 million in 2020, is out of contract at the end of the season. Both Everton and Ajax are said to be keeping tabs, with Ajax previously coming close to sealing a January move before Brighton’s injury crisis halted the transfer.
Manager Fabian Hürzeler remained tight-lipped when asked about Lamptey’s future, emphasizing internal communication and transparency with his players but avoiding any direct confirmation regarding departures.
