Following Coventry City’s dramatic Championship play-off semi-final defeat to Sunderland, football pundits are calling on the club’s hierarchy to throw their financial support behind manager Frank Lampard in the upcoming transfer window.
Lampard took charge of Coventry during a challenging period when the club sat 17th in the table, guiding them to the brink of a play-off final at Wembley. Jordan, however, rejected this cautious approach. “You take promotion when it’s available — it’s manifest destiny. You grab your opportunity, because it may not come again.”
He added that Lampard’s reputation could soar if he succeeded in keeping Coventry competitive in the Premier League, contrasting his pragmatism with managers like Russell Martin, who, according to Jordan, are overly committed to tactical philosophies regardless of on-field realities.
