According to *Football Insider* (7 May), Leeds will operate with a formidable £150million transfer budget this summer. Much of this financial firepower stems from a fresh injection of approximately £120million through the issuance of new shares, as reported by *The Athletic* (19 May). The influx is set to support both summer recruitment and improvements to Elland Road.
Finance analyst Stefan Borson explained to *Football Insider* that while the new funding won’t directly impact Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), it provides the liquidity needed for paying fees and transfer installments. He clarified that while PSR compliance limits are technically £15million in losses, injections like this allow Leeds to operate within the more flexible £105million threshold by boosting their cash position.
Borson also emphasized that the 49ers are determined to spend as much as legally permissible to give Leeds a fighting chance in the Premier League, stating, “If you don’t spend £100-120million, you’ve got no chance of staying up.”
In line with that, *Football Insider* (21 May) also revealed that Leeds are exploring a move for experienced Newcastle striker Callum Wilson. The 33-year-old, nearing the end of his contract and available on a free transfer, could provide a low-risk boost to the squad’s attacking options—despite his recent injury record and goal drought.
